【Objective】 To study the impact of different obese grades to the function of pancreatic β cells in type 2 diabetes by calculating their body mass index(BMI) and detecting the level of C peptide. 【Methods】 144 T2DM patients were divided into A, B, C 3 groups according to their body mass index BMI〈23; 23~25; ≥25). The C peptide were detected by C peptidc releasing test. The basal and biomedical parameters (age, course of disease, HbAlc, et al) among 3 groups were analyzed by one-way ANOVA(analysis of variance) (P 〈 0.05). The C peptide level among 3 groups was analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA. 【Results】 There arc no differences of the basal and biomedical parametelz among 3 groups(P 〈 0.05). The C peptide level in group B and C proportionally and significandy rises than that of group A (P 〈 0.01). In addition, the C peptide levels of 30 min, 60 min, 120 min, 180 min were proportionally and significantly higher than that of 0 min (P 〈 0.01). 【Conclusions】 BMI impacted the level of C peptide. With the ascending of obese grades, β-cell secretory capacity were strengthened and the burden of β cells were heavier. And then the failure of β cell function were manifested. Losing weight was beneficial to the health of T2DM patients with obesity.
