Main technical parameters and characteristics are stated in details for the 800 series Shikansin high-speed EMUs fnr Kyushu of Japan. It is pointed out the same and different technologies to 700 series are applied to adapt to the routes with 70% tunnels and continuous slopes with a maximum gradient of 35‰- Handling of critic technology in the de,sign of head car for 800 series is elaborated. The EMUs has been put into operation ever since March 13^th of 2004.
