摘要
华人移居美国始于19世纪30年代,初期移居美国的华人主要来自中国的广东。1965年美国修改移民法后,移居美国的华人数量迅速增加。新移民的到来改变了美国华人社会以粤侨为主的状况,并导致了传统华人社会的变迁。
The ethnic Chinese have been immigrating into the US since 1930s and they are mainly Cantonese in the early days. Their population increases rapidly following the revision of Immigration Act by the US in 1965. So there comes new Chinese immigrants and consequently the traditional Chinese communities are changing, no longer taking Cantonese as the main body.
