William Faulkner: the Great Writer in the Eyes of Chinese Literature

摘要 20世纪30年代初福克纳的小说首次被译介以来,国内读者就和福克纳结下了不解之缘。近百年来,福克纳的小说被不断翻译和反复解读,但不同年代读者的理解也大相径庭,他们先后把福克纳看作悲观的现实主义作家、反战反帝的政治进步作家、意识流派代表作家、书写人类时代状况的现实主义作家、现代派作家,甚至认为福克纳小说具有后现代主义因素。这种变化,不仅折射了中国历史语境和文学观念的历史转型,而且显示出经典文本蕴藏着丰厚的精神资源。 Since Faulkner' s novels were first translated in Chinese in 1930's, readers have been fond of reading them. During following one hundred years, his novels were constantly translated and interpreted by readers in different ages. They once considered William Faulkner as a pessimistic realistic writer, an anti - war and anti - empire political writer, a classical writer of stream of consciousness, a realistic writer who described human situations and a modem writer. They even think that Faulkner' s novels contain post - modernism factors. In fact, such changes not only reflect the transition of Chinese historical context and literary concepts, but also show the abundant mental resource stored up in classic works.
