美国为提高近距格斗空空导弹的水平,正在大力研制AIM-9X,希望其性能超过世界上已有的两种具有大离轴角发射能力的近距空空导弹,即俄罗斯的R-73和以色列的“怪蛇4”。AIM-9X及其有关的头盔瞄准具将在2002年部署,比1985年从芬兰拍摄的照片首次发现R-73晚了17年。
