During the stow and steady discharge of a Zu--Cu cell with current I carded and spherical electrodes, the Ohmic resistance R = △V/I across the electrolyte differs from the Joule heating resistance RJ = Q/I^2 .Not only electrical energy, but also chemical energy, is converted to heat in this ceil. RJ involves only the currentcarrying ions, whereas R involves all of the ions.
