Three state-owned oil giants, PetroChina Company Limited (PetroChina),China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), released their profit obtained in the first half of 2005 in August respectively, they earned approximately hundred million in total. Record crude prices are driving strong earnings growth for the top oil companies, but they are a drag on refiners who have to live with capped oil products prices. PetroChina and CNOOC achieved new high in interim performances, the incremental rate of each net profit is notably more than that of refining-dominated Sinopec. In which, offshore oil and gas producer CNOOC benefits heavily from soaring oil prices. Table 1 shows the indicators of net profit and earnings per share of three big corporations.
