New monomer,4-undecylen-[10]-amidoazobenzene was prepared.New polymer,poly(methyl,undecanoic amidoazobenzene-siloxane)was synthesized by hydrosilation reaction of poly(methylhydrosiloxane)with monomer.The chemical structure of monomer and polymer was confirmed by IR and 1H-NMR analysis.The linear dependence of Ar on time in photoisomerization reaction of azobenzene groups of polymer and monomer in benzene solution are in accordence with a first kinetics.km and kp are3.011×10-7·s-1 and 4.350×10-8·s-1,respectively.There results indicate that the macromolecular structure does not sighificantly affect the photoisomerization rate,therefore the polymer shows both good mechnical properties stemming from polysiloxane and photochromism stemming from monomer.The quantUm yield of photoisomerization of monomer in benzene solution is 0.37.
