摘要
首先对“李约瑟难题”本身所蕴涵的逻辑矛盾进行了揭示;然后从中西不同的认识论范式的比较分析的视角对“李约瑟难题”予以重新解读,从而得出结论:“形而下”与“形而上”的差别实际上标志出了中西传统认识论的根本分水岭,中西不同的认识论范式对应着两种不同的科学范式,古代中国只有自然哲学和实用科学而从来没有理论科学,我国自始至终缺乏理论科学得以生长的文化基因(数学理性、逻辑理性、实验理性和自由精神等)。因此,我国当前必须重新审视“李约瑟难题”,避免“李约瑟难题”带来的负面效应,大力培育适于科学生长的文化土壤才是当务之急。
Reveals the logical contradiction implied in Joseph Lee's baffling problem. Then, the problem is reinterpreted by comparing the different cognitive paradigms in China and in the West. A conclusion is therefore reached that “the formless versus the formal”( where the formless is equivalent to metaphysics) just indicates the traditional difference between the cognitive paradigms in China and in the West at all. Such a difference reflects the different scientific paradigms. In ancient China there were only the philosophy of nature and pragmatic science without theoretical science, because of lack of cultural gene that was expressed as the mathematical/logical/experimental rationality and the spirit of freedom. In China the baffling problem should be reviewed once again so as to avoid the negative effects the problem may bring on. What is pressing in China is to step up the effort to lay down the cultural foundation suitable for the growth of science.
