摘要
在我国近现代图书馆学史上,早年来华服务的美国图书馆学家克乃文(Herry C lemons)和韦棣华(Mary E lizabethW ood)有着不可磨灭的贡献。本文通过纪念克乃文在金陵大学首开“图书馆学”课程,回顾了我国早期图书馆学家在业务人才培养和图书馆事业方面的贡献,比较了金陵大学图书馆学系与文华图书馆专科学校的课程设置,热切呼吁了以“读者为本,书籍至上;学贯古今,术通中西”为精神特征的中国图书馆学优秀教育传统的回归。
In the history of China＇ s modern library science, American librarians, Herry Clemons and Mary Elizabeth Wood, who came to China in the early 20th century and devoted themselves in the field made indelible contributions. Through the commemoration to the course of library science fast set by Herry Clemons in Jinling University, the thesis reviews China＇ s early librarians＇ contributions on the development of qualified professional personnel and library science, compares the courses in Department of Library Science, Jinling University and Wenhua College of Library Science, and earnestly appeals for the return of China＇ s valuable education tradition in library science, which is spiritually characterized by ＂taking readers as the dominant factor,putting books above everything else ; acquiring learning both ancient and modem, ＂and being accomplished in the science of both China and the west.
