Taking four Chinese versions of William Blake's poem Auguries of Innocence as an example, this paper intends to describe the mediate characteristic of translation, which, existing between the source and the receptor languages, goes independently along the middle road. It also argues that translation as such a twilight zone would always provide new alternatives to the cultures concerned as resources and thus empower them ever increasingly in its ambiguous tension pulled toward two directions, making possible their coordination or common spirit in the Confucian sense.
