Through uncertain identity of the characters, open endings and multiple narrative voices, Toni Morrison achieved ambiguous effect in narrating and aroused the enthusiasm of participatory reading of the readers. The technique of ambiguous narrating that Morrison used in the trilogy is analyzed. Ambiguous narrating shows not only Morrison's inheriting and developing of African-American cultural ideas but also her practice of the modern composing theory, which centers on the readers.
