摘要
无线城域网技术是继无线局域网之后出现的又一项宽带无线接入技术。就无线城域网技术为何会紧跟无线局域网技术之后出现,802.16标准的基本内容,以及WiMAX论坛的使命等问题展开深入讨论。首先详细介绍了IEEE802.16标准的由来、应用范围、物理层特点等,然后从覆盖、可扩展性和QoS三个方面与802.11标准做了比较。在对WiMAX论坛进行了详尽的介绍后,从多个角度分析了802.16标准的应用前景。
Wireless MAN is another wireless broadband access technology after wireless LAN,This article discusses the reason why wireless MAN follows the heels of wireless LAN,the basic content of 802.16standard,and the missins of WiMAX forum.First of all this article introduces the origin of IEEE802.16standard together with its application scope and its characteristics of Physical and MAC layer;then compares this standard with 802.11 standard in three aspects：coverage,scalability and QoS,After the detailed introduction to WiMAX forum,the application prospect of 802.16standard is analyzed from different points of view.
