Subcultures is one of the most influential researches in Birmingham School of Cultural Studies during the 1970's and 1980's. Scholars and researchers focus their interests on such issues as the construction and implication of subcultures, the historical concept of subcultures, the interrelation of subcultures and parent cultures, of subcultures and class cultures, of subcultures and dominant cultures, and even subculture' s interrelation of opposition to, or incorporation in the dominant culture in terms of sociology, ethnographic approaches, the tools of semiotics and the structuralist. The three representatives Paul Willis, Dick Hebdige, and Angela McRobbie contribute significantly to the idea and the concept of subcultures in Birmingham School.
