摘要
惠山又称慧山，位于江苏省无锡市西郊，是江南名山之一。因山中多泉，又名惠泉山，有“天下第一泉”、“龙眼泉”等十多处名胜，著名的惠山泥人就出产在这里。
Huishan clay figurines, with a historyof 400 years and as the representative of Chinese clay figurines, have been well known both at home and abroad since the Qing Dynasty.The clay figurines in the early period were mainly dolls for children. In the later penod of the Qing Dynasty, the production of Huishan clay figurines turned to be more and more specialized and the group of craftsmen began to grow with a large number of skillful full-time artists emerging. Many craftsmen were engaged in portraying human characters, thus bringing about the famous “fine products” of Huishan clay figurines“moulded classical opera figurines”, i.e. handicraft articles to portray exclusively characters in dramas or operas.
