摘要
九江开埠以后,西方教会陆续进入九江兴建教堂并进行传教活动。为了配合传教,西方教会在九江创办了新式教育、西式医疗、慈幼恤老等慈善公益活动。这些活动推动了近代九江社会的转型,促使九江成为西方教会在江西乃至长江中下游流域传教的重镇,彰显了九江在近代发展中的特殊地位和辐射力。
After Jiujiang opened the port,Western churches entered Jiujiang one after another to build churches and preach.In order to match the missionary,Western churches sponsored such charitable activities as new education,western medical,etc.,which promoted the social transition of modern Jiujiang,urged Jiujiang become an important city where Western churches preached in Jiangxi even in lower Yangtze River basin,and revealed Jiujiang's special status and radiating power in the modern development.
