A complex of(C_6H_5)Yb(C_9H_7)·2THF(Ⅰ) has been synthesized by reacting aGrignard-type reagent C_6H_5 YbI with K C_9H_7 in THF. It is a first Yb(Ⅱ) complex containingboth π-ligand(indenyl)and dligand(phenhyl ). The similar reaction carried out in 1,2-dimethoxyethane(DME) gave (C_6H_5)Yb(C_9H_7)·DME(Ⅱ). Treatment of(Ⅰ) with diox-ane yielded(C_6H_5)Yb(C_9H_7)·THF·(1/2)Dioxane(Ⅲ).The three complexes(Ⅰ),(Ⅱ),and(Ⅲ)were analyzed by elemental analysis,IR,MS and ￣1H NMR measurements.
