In this paper,we introduce the working principle of far-field vortex flow and the basic structure of the sensor. When the sensor is moved in a straight pipeline with a small diameter,we can inspect the defect on the outer surface of the pipeline by means of the apparatus. Experimental results show that it is one of the useful methods for the inspection of corrosion on the outer surface of the pipeline.
