摘要
分析了自由电子激光的技术特性，评估了国内外的发展现状、趋势和应用前景，对发展自由电子激光的意义，它的地位、作用和难点进行了评论，对我国自由电子激光今后的发展提出了一些建议。
o far, it has only passed seventeen years from a successful demonstration of the FEL in 1976,One can see from the table 1 and 2 that the FEL devices which are operating or contructing havespreaded in main countries in the world:America,Europe,Russia,Japan, China and so on. InAmerica,though the FEL plans in defense application serving for“star war”have stopped,butthe FEL plans in civil application have acquired some practical progresses.In Japan there aremore than ten FEL plans are performing.In this paper,we have analysised the character of theFEL, estimated its present status,developing trend and application prospect in the home andabroad.Meanwhile we have also reviewed the significance of developing FEL,its position,roleand difficuIties.Finally,we have presented some suggestions for FEL future developments in ourcountry.
