摘要
报导了湖北省黑熊资源的分布及种群数量；预测了湖北省黑熊资源的发展前景；提出了保护湖北省黑熊资源的措施．
The black bear(Selenarctos thibetanus) in Hubei Province belongs to one of Sichuan subspecies (S. thibetanus mupinensis )and the national second class pro tected animal in China. The black bears are distributed over both of the northwest ern and southwestern mountains (forest areas) in ten counties of Hubei. The total habitdt area of them covers 8580. 91 km2. The number is about 1200. The distribution and the total changing tends of black bear resources in Hubei Province in the recent years show that the distribution of them has become narrow and the quantity is gradually becoming less, because of remarkably reduced forest as a habitat by heavier human impact and largely increasing of population. The extremely decreasing troop densities in a few areas may be related to over shooting and capturing black bears.
