The mechanisms of heterogenous destruction of N2O were studied, in a fixed bed reactor,under the conditions of FBC, in the temperature range of 700~1050℃. The effect of various gases, bed materials, CaO and CaSO4, oxides on N2O thermal decomposition was tested.Gases have little effect while solids strongly decompose N2O. It was discovered that CaO is the most efficient catalyst, MgSO4 the least, suggesting that CaO can remove both SO2 and N2O, and CaO will have less catalystic effect after it has absorved SO2 to change into CaSO4.Catalystic effect of Oxides such as MgO, A12O3, Fe2O3, V2O5, etc. suggests that N2O will decrease in the furnace and fluepipe. All the reactions were observed to be first-order.
