摘要
和现在通行的看法相反，《测圆海镜》不是一本讨论天元术的书，与天元术有关的部分只是应用天元术以解勾股形罢了。其核心是其中的《识别杂记》部分，这里有完整的定义，完善合适的公理，丰富多彩的定理，已经建立了一个完善的公理系统，为我国数学开辟了一条公理推演的新路。本文在论述这点以外，还指出李冶已完善地解决了由两事而解勾股形的问题，还对洞渊九容提出一些新见解。
in contrast to the prevailing view Li, Ye's Ce Yuan Hai Jing is not a book ontianyuan mcthod,which is only a mcans to solvc right trianglcs.The corc of the book is the Scction Shi Bie Zu Ji(Miscellaneous Noles On Dislinclion),in which appear complete definitions, excellent axioms and a great deal of brilliant theorems Indeed Li Ye had constructed a perfect axiomatic system and opened a new and fruitful road fo Chinese mathematics. Besides,he had solved the following problem: to solve right triangles with two of their'generalized'sides given.
