摘要
在陕西省澄城县采集到一对保存相当完好的南方象第三上臼齿化石。我国关于南方象化石的报导不多,在陕西省则是首次发现。这一发现对了解更新世时期南方象在我国的分布提供了新资料。
A pair of the M8 meridianal Archidiskodon fossils have been collected from Chengcheng County of Shaanxi province.The fossils were preserved in the sand layer under the loess. Material, A pair of the left and right third upper molar tooth ( M3 ) ( XK 8601): well-preserved. Locality: Zigu village, Chengcheng county.
Horizon: Later early Pleistocence, upper Sanmen formation.
Description. Left and right third uppur molar tooth M3,and the crown surface
took the long ellipse shape.
There were a few reports about the meridional Archidiskodon in China. This discovery is the first one in Shaanxi Province.It will not only provide t he new data concerning the distribution and evolution of the meridionalis in our country, but also has a certain significance for the division of the Quaternary stratum.
