摘要
串行式处理与并行式处理间的争论,本质上是模块论与连通论争论的细化;而这前两种理论对语言处理的阐释都存在优劣。作者试图通过比较串、并行式处理两者阐释性之优劣,来说明语言处理中存在准模块之可能;其中,串行式处理主要体现在高层系统(模块系统)上的操作,而并行式处理则主要体现在低层系统(处于信息封闭系统中的神经网络)上的操作———这可能便是语言处理的真正模式。
The disputation between parallel processing and serial processing is virtually the one between modularity and connectionism. As to the language processing, either theory has strength as well as weakness in its interpretability. The author in this thesis attempts to compare the interpretability of the two, contending that there should exist quasi-modules in which serial processing (modular system) runs the prime operation while parallel processing (neural network informationally encapsulated) correspondingly plays a primitive role, to achieve a presumably genuine paradigm of language processing.
