The London-based SIMPSON SPENCE& YOUNG (SSY) is a shipping research institution engaged in shipping consultation services. Dr MARTIN P ROWE, general manager of SSY Hongkong, made a speech recently in Nanjing analyzing the trend of world shipping and shipbuilding. His report covered four aspects, i.e., the overall trend of the world newbuildings and price; the active elements that promoted the development of the shipping and shipbuilding market in recent years; market subdivisions of bulk and oil carriers; and the future opportunity for the Chinese shipbuilding industry.
