摘要
20世纪前期和中期,对中国文化现代化进行积极探索的集大成者,应当首推毛泽东。他在大力推进中国政治现代化和经济现代化的同时,系统总结了中国近代以来文化发展正反两方面的历史经验,不仅科学地回答了“中国文化向何处去”的历史课题,而且还有力地推动了中国文化现代化的伟大实践,提供了诸多富有原创性和启示性的思想,开启了中国文化现代化的先河。同时,从总结历史经验特别是文化现代化建设经验的角度审视,毛泽东的这一探索中也存在一些今天看来是一种缺陷或局限的地方。
Mao Zedong is the greatest achiever in the study of the modernization of Chinese culture during the early and middle period of 20th century in China. While driving political and economic modernization of China, he has made a systematic generalization of the negative and positive experience in the development of the culture in modern China. The scientific answers to 'where Chinese culture should be oriented' are satisfactorily made and the vigorous drives for the great practice in modernizing Chinese culture are forcefully promoted. Chairman Mao has also produced the original and inspiring thoughts. Furthermore some defects are also discussed in the perspective of experience for the construction of cultural modernization in China.
