摘要
1987年,作者等在周口店太平山北坡,新发现的古地磁年龄距今73～90万年地层中,发现古冰楔遗迹多处。古冰楔遗迹(Ice Wedge Cast)保存在太平山组上部粘土层中,为土楔,最深50cm左右。这是中国境内首次发现的有哺乳动物化石断代和古地磁年龄早于73万年的古冰楔遗迹。从而揭示出距今73～90万年的气候恶化事件,对中国东部这一时段古气候、古环境和地层研究有重要价值。
In 1987, the authers discovered ice wedge casts in the strata with an age of 730-900 thousand years determined by palaeomagnetic dating on the north slope of Taipingshan Hill, Zhoukoudian, Beijing. The ice wedge casts are preserved in the clay bed of upper part of Taipingshan formation,and filled with clay. The deepest one of them is about 50 centimeters. Their palaeomagnetic age is more than 730 thousand years7and is determined by mammalian fossils.They are the oldest ice wedge casts so far discovered in China. Therefore,the fact indicates that there was a climate deteriorating event 730-900 thousand years ago. It is of important value in the study of palaeoclimate, palaeoenvironment and stratigraphy in that period.
