With the step of commercialization of society advanced, commercial organizations have paid extra attention to how to manage their employees’ emotion in order to pursue economic profits. American sociologist, Arlie Russell Hochschild has spent many years in probing how American Airlines engineer the feelings of their stewardesses and bill collectors. She points out that the manipulating tact adopted by Airlines rendered dreadful effects upon the managed ones not only in their everyday life but also in personalities. Her research successfully brings the empirical research of sociology of emotion into scholars’ eyesight for the first time. She describes symptoms caused by the individuality erosions from commercial forces, and intends to dig out underlying mechanism. Through constructing a frame of sociology of emotion, she unfolds her interpretation. Her research does enlighten us, however IS HER RESEARCH FLAWLESS OR PERFECT?
