ive new rare earth-2-methylallyl complexes, which are sensitive to air and moisture, havebeen synthesized by the reaction of anhydrous lanthanide with 2-methyl-allylmagnesium chloride in THF solution at low temperature. The complexes having the general formula(C4H7),LnCI5Mg2(THF)4A(Ln=Gd, Ho, Er, Yb and Lu) were characterized by clemental analyses, infrared spectra and mass spectra.
