摘要
徐志摩是一位公认的天才诗人 ,曾负笈英美多年 ,饱读过英美文学典籍 ,回国后在北大、清华等学府教授英语 ,具有深厚的中英文功底。因此 ,作为译者 ,徐氏无疑具有一般人难以企及的优势。但于徐志摩的诗歌翻译 ,译界评论不一。有鉴于此 ,笔者特撰写本文 ,主要对诗人徐志摩的诗歌翻译进行较为全面、客观和辩证的探讨 ,同时拟对近年来我国文坛和译坛出现的关于徐志摩之与翻译研究的“沉寂”
Tsemor Hsu, a star modern Chinese poet and proser, who has access to further studies in the United States and Great Britain, is unanimously held to be the very person of literary translation. In his short span of life, Hsu not only proposed his own theory of (poetry) translation but also tried his best to put what he proposed into practice by translating scores of English poems into Chinese. Obviously, Hsu is one of the great contributors in terms of translation and should therefore be treated accordingly. What is strange in the relevant academic fields in China is that very few people get themselves engaged in the study of Hsu's translation theory and practice in recent years, which forms a sharp contrast to the abundant studies on his writings. This kind of abnormal phenomenon intrigues some people on the translation line and bestirs them to find out the underlying reasons. Not quite agree with what a writer proposed recently, the present author puts forward his accounts of the said phenomenon after a general study of the merits and demerits of Hsu's translation theory and practice.
