摘要
自古以来,人一直在意义的创造和建构中构建着自己的家园,构建着人类安身立命的场所,即人在意义的创造和建构中居住着,这是人类生存的最基本的命题。意义的呈现是居住的必然结果,去居住是意义产生的动因,二者互为因果。意义的结构、范围和层次以及意义的稳定性与流变性均全面深刻地反映了人达成居住的一切物质和精神需求。从意义的角度来解释居住的概念,将有助于我们从根本上理解人类达成居住的过程,以及因人的居住而形成的物质环境的内涵;有助于在当代无共同标准、无主流价值的多元化建筑现象中,把握建筑发展的内在逻辑;有助于建筑学作为一门综合性极强的学科,被整体地、系统地、本质地理解和阐释。
The world we are living in was once chaotic but has been divided into the meaningful and the meaningless world as result of human residence. The meaningful world has grown out of the dark confusion thanks to mankind's habitation. It is the civilized fire lighted by the mankind's wisdom, just like a flowing and expanding flame in a world of darkness.There was nothing and there is something. This is the process of meaning. Inevitably, every new meaning would lead to some new relationship between mankind and the world. Structure, scope and levels are presented differently and so are people's need, basic nature, and survival. Meaning is the essence of existence, the core of which is human habitation.Humans live in the meaningful world constructed by themselves. On the whole, it is divided into two parts: the material and the spiritual world. The former provides the living space and all the material needs. While the latter serves to satisfy human spiritual needs with literature, art, religion, philosophy etc. and help to interpret and explore the needs of life in the attempt to achieve peace of mind..There are two premises for people's poetic residence: the first is the stability of the meaning. People always try to construct a relatively stable, familiar, and controllable world of meaning to reside, so that they can rest in the world of peace, satisfaction, friendship and love. The second is the development and change of the meaning. People are always dissatisfied with what they possess and try to expand the meaning and the value of life. As necessitated by Man's survival, the two are unified as well as contradictory to form the basic rhythm of the developing of the individual life and the whole society. The process of residence is that of the presenting and constructing of the meaning. The presence of meaning is the positive outcome of the residence. We strive to make deep analysis and study into the relationship between them so as to facilitate our better understanding of the survival of mankind, the essence of the residence and our comprehension of the form, the structure, as well as the meaning of our material and spiritual worlds.Architects are the creators of the residential environment. It is the premise for architects to interpret the meaning of human habitat and to comprehend fundamentally the residential needs of people before designing the residential environment. In essence, the process of designing and constructing is in natural conformity with the creating and building of meaning as well the realization of human residence. Apart from dealing with various concrete aspects of designing, architects should always focus on the cardinal concept of ″residing in the meaning″ and avoid the possible wrong road of deviation and superficiality.
