银杏于１７８４年由英国引种到美国，美国有２０多个州栽植或研究银杏。美国对银杏生长发育、雄株品种、营养繁殖、基生树瘤、组织培养、性型表达、人工栽培、叶用成分及抗病虫机理等方面均有研究。
Abstract Ginkgo biloba was introduced into USA from England in 1784. It was grownand researched in more than 20 states in USA. Recently systematic researches are con-ducted on the development of short and long branches of this species , its embryonic de-velopment , variety of male plant , vegetative reproduction , basal burls , tissue culture ,expression of sex, culture, effective elements in leal and mechanism of insect and dis-ease resistance. China is the distribution center of this species with a long history of itscultrue. The planting area and peld all rank the first in the world. New in China theannual production of ginkgo fruits is above 8 million kg and up to the end of this centuryit will reach 10 million kg. Aound 2, 130 it will reach 100 million kg . Then it will meetthe fundamental demand of the world market. The export of ginkgo leaves from Chinawill also increase annually. The research on this species in China should be strengt-hened .
