９０年代国外炼油及石油化工业面临世界经济的环球化及更严历的环保要求的挑战。因此趋向于加强合作，进行必要的生产改造，合作开发新的工艺过程。这一切可作为中国炼油及石油化工业发展的借鉴，应努力提高企业的经济效益，加强环境保护，大力合作开发有前途的工艺过程。
To meet the challenges of globalization of economy and tougher environment regulations in the 1990's, the major overseas petrochemical companies collaborate closely in developing new technologies along with production restructuring, from which the petrochemical enterprises of China may draw good lessons. In keeping pace with these challenges, the petrochemical industry of China has to improve its economic effectiveness, implement environmental programs and enhance cooperation in the development of new technologies.
