In this paper,mossbauer spectra of iron catalysts used for slurry Fischer-Tropsch synthesis are presented.Four iron phases were identified in Fe-Cu- K_2O catalysts,namely,superparamagnetic iron and iron ion SPM + Fe￣(3+) ,hematite α-Fe_2O_3, magnetiteFe_3O_4, and Hagg carbide X-Fe_5C_2. It was found that the iron phase of catalysts in slurry re-actors(bubble column reactors and stirred tank reactors ) was mainly composed of iron car-bide at the later period of a run. It is different from that of a fixed bed reactor in which theiron catalyst is divided into iron carbide at the inlet side of the bed and iron oxide near the ex-it. This is because the reaction environment,incluiding flow mode and catalyst size,is dif-ferent in the two types of reactors.
