The west of Caowu Tin ore deposit in Dongshan of Wuxian County, Suzhou is a middle-sized tin ore deposit found for the first time in Jiangsu Province. The average grade of ores in surace is about 0. 62 per cent. There occurs mainly cassiterite, a single tin mineral and a small amount of dnieprovskite and stannite in ores based on a balance measurement of metal content in raw tin ores and analysis in the chemical phase of -0. 03mm sludge. The main metal minerals with greater specific gravity are ferrohydrite, iron glance and coronadite. The nonmetal minerals are mainly quartz and kaolinite.Because the cassiterite occurs as aggregate and foreign minerals with greater speciflc gravity, which has weak magnetism, the methods including stage grinding and gravity-magnetic separation processing can be used to hit a good separation result. According to the texture, stucture and composition of ores and the typomorphic characteristics of cassiterite as well as their content of trace elements, the hydrothermal-filling is considered as a key mineralization, and replacement and recrystallization as associated ore-forming in the ore district. The cassiterite, formed in the inesothermal stage belongs to a mesothermal mineral. Its genetic features are similar to that of the mineral assemblage of transitional types such as quartz-cassiterite and quartz-sulfide-cassiterite.
