地球观测系统（EOS）是美国航宇局（NASA）从空间观测地球计划的一个项目。为了能从空间平台对地球进行全面的观测,NASA等机构将在平台上安装各种遥感仪器,然后把它们射入太阳同步极轨道。这些不载人的自主式平台将连续观测地球15年。本文介绍了该观测系统的作用和组成,以及所载仪器的性能和用途。
The Earth Observing System (EOS) is a planned NASA program for observing the Earth from space. The platforms will be developed and equipped with remote sensing instruments and will be launched into sun-synchronous polar orbit so that all parts of the globe can be viewed. These unmanned automated platforms will make measurements for 15 years. The application and composition of the Earth Observing System, the performances and functions of the payload on board are presented in this article.
