Boron phosphate catalyst for propene oligomerization has been studied by TPD method. The results show that the TPD spectra reflect substantially the dehydration process of the free phosphoric acids on the catalyst surface, and the catalytic activity may mainly be attributed to these phosphoric acids. Calcination can severely affect the catalyst.When calcined in static air, all components of the surface acids seem to be reduced near evenly, while only the components which can dehydrate below the calclnation temperature are eliminated when calcined in flow nitrogen.
