193 workers exposed to CS_2 workers and 50 nonexposed healthy persons as controlswere investigated. Results showed that thelevels of Urinaria β_2-microglobulin(β_2 MG),albumin(Alb), alkaline phosphatase (AKP),lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and γ-glutamytranspeptidase (γ-GT) in the exposed groupwere significantly hingher than that of thecontrol and increased progressively with ince-asing working years and concentration ofCS_2. If higher than the 95th percentile ofvalues found in the control group used ascriteria of significance, the abnormal prevel-ence of urinary β_2-MG, AKP, LDH in exp-osed group were significantly increased, Itis suggested that CS_2 may cause a mixedproximal tubular and glomerular damage.Changes of urinary β_2-MG level and AKP,LDH activity may be a valuable index forearly detection of chronic renaldamage inCS_2 workers.
