A FINITE ELEMENT MODEL FOR SEISMICITY INDUCED BY FAULT INTERACTION

摘要 On ths basis of interaction between faults, a finite element model for Southwest China is constructed,and the stress adjustment due to the strong earthquake occurrence in this region was studied. The preliminary results show that many strong earthquakes occurred in the area of increased stress in the model. Though the results are preliminary, the quasi 3D finite element model is meaningful for strong earthquake prediction.
