摘要
可持续发展是得到普遍共识的新的发展思想和未来全球性发展战略。本文从人对底与可持续发展的关系角度，通过对人口素质定义的界定，分析了其对可持续发展的实现途径和支撑能力的作用和影响，论述了人口素质在实施可持续发展战略中的地位和作用，并提出了相应的对策建议。
Sustainable development is a new devefopment ideology commonly acknowledged and a global development strategy in future. From the angle of the relationships between population quality and sustainable development, this paper analyses the functions and impact of population quality on the achieving way and supporting capacity of sustainable development, through confining the definition of POpulation quality and on the basis of the author understanding of the conception and connotation of sustainable devel0Pment. The paper holds that economic growth is one of the significant ways to sustainable development and that population quality is a key factor for economic growth and plays a key role in it. The paper also holds that roource environment is the supporting capacity for sustainable development and that the sustainability of resource environment cannot be maintained without the irnprovement of population quality. The paper draws the conclusion that population quality is a very important factor to and has a key function and impact on sustainable development. According to this conclusion, the paper puts forward some strategic suggestions for improving population quality and further for the realization of sustainable development.
