摘要
作者通过对同济大学等五所高校城市规划专业的考察，借鉴国外的经验，认为我国城市规划要拓宽专业的知识领域，增加社会、经济、环境等方面的内容。主要理由一是城市不仅是一个物质实体，同时也是经济、社会实体；二是社会主义市场经济要求规划师转变单纯搞形体规划的观念；三是我国城市可持续发展战略的核心就是要协调好经济、社会与环境的关系。
