This four part paper serves as an introduction to the verbal protocol method used in the study of translating process. The first part stresses the great importance of research into translating process. The second part briefly discusses the origin and classification of verbal protocols. The third part deals with the specific procedure in their application. And the final part addresses several noteworthy points in the application of the verbal protocol method. [
