厚朴是我国特有、珍稀药用树种。厚朴枝、叶生长的特殊性是构成厚朴特有生长规律的生理基础;“厚朴叶片簇生枝基” 的发现,纠正了自厚朴新种发表以来,近80年的错误记载;厚朴年生育规律主要决定于其生物学特性,同时受气候因素影响.
Officinal magnolia, Magnolia officinalis, is one of the elite, rare and endangered medicinal tree species peculiar to China. The special way in which its branches and leaves grow constitutes the physiological basis of its unusual growth pattern. The finding that the leaf clusters of this plant initiate expansion in spring at the very base of the dwarf shoots instead of the shoot apexes should correct the 80-year misunderstanding of leaf insertion since this species was first reported. The annual growth pattern of officinal magnolia is largely determined by the biological characters of the plant proper, but climate is also a causative factor.
