According to the mass characters of the off-road vehicle and bus and truck vary greatly, the method of estimating automobile mass by use of neural network, which utilizes the throttle opening and vehicle speed and accelerator in the vehicle starting, is advanced, the test is done ,and the test results are analyzed when the vehicle is in no load or full load, meanwhile the shift schedule of the vehicle is made by making use of the estimated mass.
