奥地利地处欧洲中心,兼有海洋性气候和大陆性气候的特点。73％的土地为森林和牧草所覆盖,20％的土地是肥沃农田,总长10万公里的河流和小溪流经这个美丽的国家。在环境保护方面,奥地利联邦、州和乡镇政府共同采取了切实可行的措施,环保法规日益完善。
Different kinds of environmental laws and standards have been formulated in Austria for the effective protection of its land, air, water resources and vegetation from damage. In order to carry out these laws and standards effectively, modifications have been done on the maximum permit of sulphur in all kinds of fuel, the concentration of pollutants in waste gases from burning fossil fuel and the standards for water quality and purification measures. Treatment and disposal measures have been specified for industrial and domestic solid wastes, animal carcasses, toxic wastes and waste oil. The implementation of these laws and standards has brought about the remarkable reduction of air pollutant emission, great improvement of water quality and sound management of solid wastes.
