Jointly sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Energyand the Canadian Federal Department of Industry,Science and Technology,Sino-Canadian seminars on hydropowertechnology were held in succession in Beijing,Chengdu andKunming between November 18-27.More than 200 experts at-tended the seminars respectively.In the course of each seminarheld,Chinese participants reviewed with interest Canadian prac-tices and some of the unique technologies developed in tappingtheir hydro potentials over years while in the meantime Chinesecounterparts also highlighted the historic,current and future pro-gramme for hydropower development in China.As indicated inhis opening speech by Mr.Lu Youmei,Vice Minister of Energy,
