摘要
本期刊发的严文明《聚落考古与史前社会研究》一文,认为聚落考古一般应包含三个方面的内容:一是单个聚落形态和内部结构的研究;二是聚落分布与聚落之间关系的研究;三是聚落形态历史演变的研究。作者认为。能否用聚落考古的观念去思考和组织田野考古工作,效果是截然不同的。
The 'settlement archaeology,'or 'study of settlement form' or 'analysis of spatial position, 'is a method archaeologists use in their field work and research concerning a settlement site. It is merely a method or means rather than a theory or even a methodological system outside the frame of traditional archaeology.It is composed of three parts:study of the form and inner structure of individual settlements, that of the distribution of settlements and their relationship, and that of the evolution of the form of settlements.Application of the concept of settlement to the understanding and designing of field work can make substantial differences. So,settlement archaeology need advancement.
