摘要
伊丽莎白·毕肖普是20世纪美国最有影响力的女诗人之一,曾获普利策奖和全国图书奖,近年来声望日盛。依托法国心理学家雅克·拉康的镜像理论,通过毕肖普的《夏洛特先生》一诗,从新的角度透析诗人内心深处对自我的认识及隐藏在镜子背后的欲望。在父母关爱缺失的情况下,即使诗人三缄其口,读者依然能从语言这个能指的符码中发现她对自我认知的不确定,以及为了得到母亲的承认而无限渴望成为父亲形象的欲望。
Elizabeth Bishop,one of the most influential woman poets in America in the 20th century,once wining Pulitzer Prize and National Book Awards,has been enjoying growing international reputation in recent years.Employing French psychologist Lacan’s mirror stage theory,this paper intends to discuss the process of Bishop’s self-construction and her real desire hiding behind The Gentleman of Shalott.Even as a most reticent poet,tracing through the code of her language,it still can be concluded that she is uncertain about herself and wishes to be accepted by her mother by infinite approaching her father’s image.
