摘要
现代美国英语出现了若干不正文风。本文列举了诸如滥用讳饰,冗长累赘,浮夸卖弄以及迭床架屋地使用名词定语等文风不正的表现形式,并从美国政治、经济、社会及错误认识等方面探求了不正文风的来源。
The present-day American English is suffering from certain unhealthy styles. This paper first presents their various manifestations, such as the abusive use of euphemism, redundancy, florid writing for sheer exuberance or from a desire of shoving off, nouns piling into a tottering wall of big words, etc. The second part of the paper deliberates on the styles' underlying causes—political' economical, and social……as well as some erroneous assumptions.
