摘要
对五四的估价，要采取历史主义的进路。对五四得失的分析，要集中在它对现代性的引介，尤其是对汉语文化语境中现代性话语建构的主题上面。以前者言，五四对传统的批判与拒斥，因据有历史根据，显示出合理性；以后者言，五四建构的现代性话语，已脱开西方文化语境，具有切合汉语文化语境需要的独立性。在当代视野中，继承五四现代性言说的基本精神并超越五四，则是大势所趋。
Abstract The author holds that a historicist attitude should be taken in evaluating the May 4th Movement.In the analysis of its success and failure,focus should be placed on the introduction of modernity,on modern discourse construction in the contexts of the Chinese language in particular.To the former,there is historical rationality in the criticism and rejection of tradition on the part of the scholars in the Movement.To the latter,the discourse of modernity constructed has moved out of the context of Western culture and gained its independence which meets the need for the building of Chinese culture.
